Where in Chicago can kids meet the Easter bunny, play with crafts, hop around with animals and join in on a massive Easter egg hunt? If you guessed Lincoln Park Zoo, you’re right! On April 19, America’s oldest and free zoo is throwing its annual Easter extravaganza with a romping Easter egg hunt, free carousel rides and more!
Previously held at the Farm-in-the-Zoo (the petting zoo section of the zoo), this year the exciting event is moving to the zoo’s beautiful green South Lawn and historic Park Place Cafe. The egg-stravagent celebration will start at 8:30 a.m. with treats with the Easter Bunny, visiting with the animals, and weather permitting, free carousel and train rides!
The big event, the giant egg hunt, begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 9:20 a.m. So far, the age groups and the order are yet to be determined. After the festivities, the day will end with a craft session for children to create Easter art!
Tickets for the popular children’s event must be purchased in advance no later than 5 p.m. on April 16, and they will not be available at the zoo on the day of. Prices run $20 for everyone 12 and over ($15 for zoo members), $40 for children ages 2-11 and free for all babies under one year old.
