Chicago is known for its breweries, craft beers and original ales like 312, Half Acre and Revolution Brewing. Now the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild is bringing Chicago Craft Beer Week (CBW) back for its 5th year!
For 11 days in May, CBW will hold samplings of exclusive craft beers. The fest will be located at an array of Chicago breweries, brewpubs, beer bars, and bottle shops from Lincoln Park to Bridgeport. Starting on the 15th and running through the 25th, the venues will offer $4 tastings of rare beers, beer dinners and tap takeovers. This is the perfect festival for Chicagoans who love to sample unique ales!
CBW’s website for 2014 is now live. However, it’s new and the schedule is yet to be announced except for the opening and closing events. The beer bash festivities will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on May 15th with “Beer Under Glass” at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Join in and sample innovative brews under glass from local craft breweries and small plates from local restaurants. The proceeds will benefit the Garfield Park Conservatory and the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. Tickets go on sale to the public on April 1.
The week will end with a bang as the West Loop Craft Beer Festival kicks off at the Chicago French Market on May 24 at 1 p.m. Known as the largest craft beer outdoor block party, the fest features a cornucopia of local beer, food and entertainment. A ticket gets you a sampling glass and craft beer tastings. The proceeds benefit the Neighbors of West Loop and the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. Some of the breweries invited to the fest include 5 Rabbit Brewery, Goose Island, Spiteful Brewery and Rock Bottom Breweries.
