The Loop’s 17th Annual SummerDance in Full Swing

Get out and get moving in the Loop at Chicago’s 17th annual SummerDance! Held in the idyllic Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park, SummerDance transforms the 4,900-square-foot, 100 percent recycled, open-air dance floor into an urban dance space that is free to everyone of all ages!

The SummerDance series features 44 different live bands and offers lessons for each dance before the music starts. You don’t have to be a pro to join in! Lessons are embarrassment-proof, and are taught by instructors who encourage anyone who is in the spirit of dancing to join! Whether you are a beginner, a pro, or you have never danced before, you likely to have fun cutting loose to the urban sounds of Argentine Tango, Salsa, Bachata, Irish Folk Dance, East Coast Swing, line dancing, Polka, Samba, and much more!

The event runs from June 27 to September 15 on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Dance lessons on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be held from 6-7 p.m., with live music beginning at 7:30 p.m. and running until 9:30 p.m. On Sundays, dance lessons start at 4 p.m. and end at 5 p.m., with live music and dancing hitting the floor at 5 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m.
